Power of Community

Special note from Sue

Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. (Romans 12:15)

My stepmom came into my life when I was 16 and my brother was 14. I don't know what she was thinking marrying my dad with two moody teenagers and a complaining mother-in-law. Maybe she needed a family and we needed a mom. My dad and stepmom did not have a perfect marriage, but they really did love each other.

She was a mother to us for 34 years and loved being a grandmother for the last 21 years. Mom passed away suddenly but peacefully at the age of 82 on September 18th, 2021. She was a beloved wife, umma, halmoni, sister and a child of God.

We will remember how she loved tacos more than kimchi and how she loved getting compliments on her porcelain skin even in her eighties. She loved and was loved.

On behalf of my family, I want to thank many of you who have reached out so graciously and generously to offer your prayers, condolences, meals, flowers, cards, gifts, texts and phone calls. The love and support you poured out to us carried us through these long three weeks.

Through your presence, we remember that God is with us; through your tears, we remember that the Spirit mourns with us; through your help, we remember the power of the new community in Christ. Thank you friends.
