Overcoming Fear

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. (John 16:33)

These days have been overwhelming. We see the earth quaking, floods rising, virus mutating, government toppling, and hearts hardening. Honestly, there are days when we just want to ignore what is really happening, but our restless bodies remind us that we are not well and we can't deny what is happening around and in us.

During these trying times when we feel paralyzed by fear, may God draw us to the source of peace-Jesus. The peace of Christ can make room for grief. The peace of Christ can anchor us to face the trouble before us-together. Let us encourage one another through our words and action. We need each other during these difficult times.

Prayer and action for the Korean Peninsula

God of peace,

We lament the last unforgettable 70 years of families broken apart and separated by war. We grieve the arbitrary borders forcibly set upon the people of Korea. We confess we carry the spirit of division in us.

We grieve the lives and land that were destroyed in war. We see that this unresolved burden has been passed to the next generation and fear resides in our hearts. Have mercy on us.

God of all tribes and nations, we long for reconciliation on the Korean peninsula. We pray for just laws that can bring families together who have been separated. We pray for the hearts of US leaders who have the power to sign the peace treaty. Grant them your heart of mercy and compassion. Move them to officially end the peace. We pray for the Holy Spirit to give us direction, wisdom, and love. Amen.

Contact your Congress representative to sign three bills:
H.R.3446 Peace on the Korean Peninsula Act
H.R. 826 Divided Families and Reunification Act
H.R.1504/S.690 Enhancing North Korea Humanitarian Assistance Act
