Meet Our Team

  • SUE PARK-HUR

    CO-FOUNDER

Sue is a Korean American born in Seoul, but raised in Los Angeles since she was eight. One of the pivotal points in her life was witnessing the 1992 Los Angeles Uprising/Saigu while she was at UCLA. The racial, social, and economic tensions in the city were cries for the work of reconciliation. A former church-planter and local pastor with her spouse, Sue has continued to believe churches can be agents of peace in their communities. She currently serves as the director of racial/ethnic engagement for Mennonite Church USA. Her specialization includes intercultural competency, anti- racism, trauma and resilience, restorative justice, conflict transformation, mentorship, and women in leadership.

  • HYUN HUR

    CO-FOUNDER

Born in Suwon, Korea, Hyun knew he was called to full time ministry in his teens. While studying at Korean Baptist University in 1988, he was introduced to Anabaptism and identified with the 16th century Anabaptists and their radical commitment to Jesus that faithfully followed the spirit of the early church. Hyun’s Anabaptist convictions deepened while studying at Fuller Theological Seminary. Hyun believes that the Mennonites, who are seriously committed to their Anabaptist roots and have practiced the core values of discipleship, community, and peacemaking for the last 500 years, could offer an alternative and refreshing perspective to Korean Christianity. Specialization: conflict transformation, restorative justice, shalom theology, trauma and resilience

  • HYEYOON SONG

    PROGRAM COORDINATOR

HyeYoon Song is a multidisciplinary artist and an educator. Having been born in South Korea and experiences of migration to New Zealand and to the United States, her work finds its genesis in the narrative of migration and the role of Asian-diaspora chronicling the evolving perceptions of nationhood and cultural identity. HyeYoon is excited to join ReconciliAsian because she feels inspired to connect and share the experiences of Asian Diaspora bodies as she herself has embraced the challenges of having to accept her new identity as an immigrant when moving here as a young person. HyeYoon hopes and dreams that art is a vehicle of transformation and an outlet to story tell the journeys of individuals and the collective.
